Just to share with you the artistic creativity of an impressive chapter of Italian History. A short presentation of the BreraMilano1930 project, outlining each flavor of their Panettone with the most beautiful graphic icons of the Ricordi Collection.

BreraMilano1930 has sought to bear witness to and celebrate the finer things of Milan for years, and among these, in magical conjunction of passion, art, history, beauty, and emotions, it has encountered the Archivio Storico Ricordi, the largest private musical archive in the world.
In recent years, in a passionate convergence of intentions aimed at underlining what has rendered and continues to render Italy inimitable, it has sought to renew its long-standing collaboration by giving particular emphasis to one of the themes most dear to great composers, librettists, writers, and illustrators of all ages: the female universe.
Through the extraordinary collection of musical and iconographic documents preserved in the Ricordi historical archive, BreraMilano1930 pays homage to woman, as she appears in the librettos of famous poets and writers, and is immortalized by the music of the greatest Italian melodrama composers and enhanced by the shapes and colors of the costumes created for her by the most exclusive sartorial designers of the opera theater between the 19th and 20th centuries.
It is a journey through the representation of feminine nature and being, according to models found only in the arts.

On this 2023's collection, Breramilano1930, with the prestigious Ricordi Historical Archive's Partnership celebrates the 210th anniversary of Maestro Giuseppe Verdi's birth.

Along the years, Breramilano1930 has been celebrating Milanese excellences able to blend passion, art, history, beauty and emotions. None can do this better but the Ricordi Historical Archive, recognized to be the main private music archive in the world.

In an enthusiastic attempt to underline what has made and makes Italy one and only, Breramilano1930 has renewed this long-term collaboration by giving particular evidence to one of the greatest composers of all times: Giuseppe Verdi, on the occasion of the 210th anniversary since his birth.

The extraordinary collection of iconographic documents available in the Ricordi Historical Archive, has given Breramilano1930 the chance to leaf through outstanding stag costume sketches, enjoying the enchanting fabrics and jewels exquisite details. The most important costume stylists of the time were engaged to draw the croquis for Verdi's masterpieces and watercolors. Breramilano1930 has been charmed by this drawings collection, an exclusive witnessing of that time, having as main characters Giuseppe Verdi himself and his beloved Villa of Sant'Agata.

These sketches were created during a visit to Villa Sant'Agata the composer did in the summer of 1900. The famous illustrator Leopoldo Metlicovitz, the publisher Giulio Ricordi with his wife Giuditta Brivio and soprano Teresa Stolz joined Maestro Giuseppe Verdi at Sant'Agata, who welcomed them with joy.

Thanks to these drawings, kept in the Ricordi Historical Archive, we can enter today again into the Studio of the Maestro, see his piano where he composed so many master works, walk along the Avenue of Poplars and marvel at the garden and the pond. The villa was Verdi's retreat, he returned to what he called "the deep quietness of St Agatha's" any time he could. He had furnished it with his wife Giuseppina Strepponi's help and the Villa was surrounded by tall trees and flowers, personally chosen one by one.

The fine watercolor images reproduced on postcards and bookmarks have been enhanced by the greeting signature of Verdi himself, taken from one of the more than 1700 Maestro's autographed letters and tickets stored in the Archive.

Again, in the Archive are available hundreds of stage costumes drawings of the most important operas of melodrama, including of course Giuseppe Verdi masterpieces.

Breramilano1930 chose for you 6 sketches taken from Giuseppe Verdi's stunning successes: from the "Odalisques" created by Damore for "Il Corsaro" in 1848 to the costumes of Luigi Bartezago for "I Vespri Siciliani", from the "Generali" of Aida's première in 1872 by Girolamo Magnani to "Principessa Eboli" by Alfredo Edel for "Don Carlo" and to conclude the Lady of "Un Ballo in Maschera " designed by Giuseppe Palanti in 1903, on the occasion of a Teatro La Scala revival.

What Breramilano1930 presents is not only an overview of Verdi's main titles, but also an outline of the most famous stage costumes creators from the second half of 1800s to the early 1900s: a uniqueness within a uniqueness.
