This basic "mother" sauce is your pasta sauce base. Containing just beautiful Apulian tomatoes, basil, and salt, this sauce is a great foundation for your own tomato sauce recipe.

No additives or preservatives.

Recommendations for use: add to your soffritto of onion or garlic in olive oil and cook for 15-20 minutes. Drain your pasta al-dente and add pasta to the sauce. Toss in a pan while continuing to cook. Add grated cheese and serve.

  • Is the salsa madre sauce mixed with something else in addition to the Sofrito? Would it only be enough for less than a pound of pasta?

    The "salsa madre" (mother sauce in English) is the basis for any other salsa. It only contains tomato sauce, salt, and basil. You may add the soffritto, your choice of vegetables, meat or fish to the sauce. Or just add it to the pasta. It depends on your taste, but this should be enough for at least 1.3 lb of pasta.
