David Corral, founder of Mieles Anta, was born in the small village of Toca, in the province of Lugo (Galicia, Spain), where each of his neighbors had their own beehives. As he, himself, says: I was born among bees and at the age of ten, was the one who controlled the swarms and warned my father to pick them up so they wouldn't leave.
In 1981 he decided to dedicate his life to bees, his great passion, he started with only 150 hives and began to market his own harvest, although the family’s love affair with bees dates back to the 1800s.
After a few years of study and training, David's entrepreneurial character led him to create the Mel da Anta project and its values:
. The protection of bees
. The respect and conservation of the natural heritage and the biodiversity of species of their unique environment, the virgin landscapes of the mountains of Galicia, in the Natural Parks of Os Ancares and O Caurel
. The recovery of historical enclaves.
His work was recognized by the ecological defense association of Galicia with the OSYXENE 2006 award.
As a result of plenty of work, effort and commitment in the world of traditional and organic beekeeping, in 2014, dedicated to organic and natural products and focused on the international market,Toca was born.
Today, maintaining the essence and family character of the company, and eager to keep the beekeeping tradition alive, Mieles Anta continue to work on their beehives so that their products maintain their high quality; innovating in beekeeping trends, while taking advantage of the wisdom of our ancestors.
Miel de Anta are beekeepers
The hives are located in apiaries of difficult access, in uninhabited places, and far from conventional agriculture. They are located at more than 600 meters of altitude in the mountains of Galicia, mainly in the natural reserves of O Caurel and Ancares.
The hives do not receive chemical treatments. Toca only seal and use their own certified beeswax, which guarantees them total control of the health of their apiaries.
Mieles Anta's bees, therefore Toca's bees, are not fed: they feed on their own honey.
Biolmiel, Great Taste, and America Awards have confirmed what many customers had already been telling for years: Toca's organic honey is the best in the world.
The honey we harvest is always raw since it is not subjected to heat treatments or filtering in any part of the process, thus allowing it to keep all the richness and added value of the pollen particles.
Toca has always combined tradition and innovation to obtain honey and pollen of excellent quality, 100% raw and natural, controlling all production and traceability of their products, as guaranteed by the certification of the Regulatory Council of Organic Agriculture of Galicia CRAEGA, and USDA ORGANIC, the official certification of the United States Department of Agriculture./p>
